Happy 5 months to this adorable little shark!
I am continually in awe as I watch this cute little boy grow before my eyes. He is so much fun and I love watching him learn and discover new things.
Although he's not crawling (it looks like he really wants to, has the strength and motions but not the coordination) he is definitely mobile and will roll his way across the room.
He still hasn't been sleeping quite as well as he used to, but at least we are back to getting a decent amount of sleep at night. He will usually still wake up once but will generally go back to sleep after eating. One day when I was particularly tired, I put him next to me in bed and he fell asleep like this...thought it was so cute!
We finally found a helmet that was small enough for him :) We still have probably another month until he's strong enough to sit up in the bike trailer, but I can't wait to go on family bike rides!
He continues to adore the outdoors, especially the beach. Even as I sit here and type this, we are sitting on the grass outside and he is just rolling around on the blanket happy as can be. Inside, he wasn't happy even with me holding him! I am grateful to live in a place where it will be warm enough pretty much year round to just go outside if I need him to calm down!
He discovered sand a few weeks ago and loves to dig in it...we come home from the beach covered in sand.
The Finlaysons have this awesome chair that he lounges in when we eat dinner at their house...looks like such a little big kid :) Mini sized adult things are the cutest!
He got sick for the first time a few weeks ago and it's taken awhile to get over it. He seems to be feeling fine but hates having snot wiped from his nose and has a lingering phelgmy cough. I think we are finally almost over it!
Grant and I continue to amuse ourselves by dressing him up in funny things when we go shopping out in town. It's pretty irresistable!
Besides being outside, the bath is his next favorite place and can instantly calm him down. He ends up in hilarious positions like this one but is so good at keeping his head above water. Even if he slips, he'll flail his arms and legs out to catch himself on the sides of his tub. Because he was sick, we got him this bubble bath that helped clear him out...
...and he absolutely loved it. And Grant couldn't resist covering his head and face with bubbles :)
It's usually kind of hard to see his hair in pictures but I captured his super fuzzy hair in this photo. We LOVE his hair. It's growing in thick and straight up...so soft and fuzzy. It's adorable.
Last week in the car I needed to feed him so mixed up a bottle and proceeded to feed him. He pretty much pushed my hands off of it and held it himself. It was as if he wanted to say, "Mom, let me do it myself!" He only gets a bottle a couple times a week at most so I was surprised to see him do this since we haven't even tried to encourage it! This kid is growing up!
This is his new favorite face to make. He puffs up his cheeks and pulls his lips in. It is so funny...must feel cool or something because he loves it.
He loves look at himself in the mirror. I was trying to get ready the other morning so put him in front of the mirror and he was entertained for at least 5 minutes (as long as I needed to finish doing my hair). It was perfect.
He has mastered the art of sucking his toes and especially loves it in the bathtub when they are covered in water
And finally, he had his first solids this month and it did not go over well. We tried rice cereal from a spoon and I'm pretty sure he gagged on and then spit out every tiny bit of it. We tried a few times and just wouldn't have it. Then I tried it in a bottle and he didn't mind it. I was hoping it would help him sleep through the night again but didn't seem to make a difference so we're putting off trying it again for a few weeks/month. He did however get ahold of this mini banana Grant was eating one day and chewed on the peel and then grabbed a handful and sucked on it for awhile. Still another month til we start fruits and veggies but maybe he'll like them a little better :)
Love this little guy and so blessed to be his mom. Grateful to have Grant as my partner through it all...we make a good team!
He has such a happy personality. He's only getting cuter.
