I remember realizing when I got pregnant that I wouldn't really be able to do a nursery because we would be moving 2 months after Rowan was born. The idea of creating a nursery while I was pregnant was appealing because I had lots of time on my hands to finish projects, but again, this just wasn't an option. I was grateful that we ended up in a beautiful home here where I was able to create a room just for him once we got here...only it took a little longer to complete because I now have a baby to take care of too :) But now, after two and a half months, his room is finally complete! (and is now my favorite room in the house :)
This mobile was one of my favorite projects. We collected driftwood from the beach right outside our house and then I learned how to fold paper cranes. It is a fun beach meets Japanese mobile and I seriously love it.
The super cute blanket on the floor is one that my sister in law Tricia made for Rowan. It looks awesome in his room and love having it to use as a rug/blanket that I can lay Rowan down on since we have hardwood floors.
The art on the left: the wave string art I made and posted about a couple weeks ago, the whale picture that we bought in Carlsbad and then the raffia crab that we bought at a trade show in NYC several years ago.
Chair is a mini Poang chair from Ikea and the alligator from my sister Holly, his name is Cordy Roy :)
I knew I wanted a gallery wall above his dresser, but was a little intimidated. I love how it turned out though! My sisters gave us the bike prints, I bought the whales in San Diego and the rest of the frames I got at a local store here, called Nitori. The ones with the colors around them are actually frameless but I added washi tape around the outsides for some pops of color.
The lamp is Pottery Barn kids and again is a slightly Japanese element since it is a glass float, the Vespa piggy bank I found at a gift shop here a couple days ago and for $6 couldn't resist, the "boxes" are also PBK, and the snow globe is personalized and from a patient of Grant's at the hospital at Pendleton.
Reading books in the glider...he seriously loves reading! I'm already sick of all of his books, but oh well. We'll just keep reading them :)
Loving his new room :)
And here are a few pics to show the room from all angles...
Feels great to have one room completely finished.
We have handmade elements from so many people who love him (Vespa rocker from Grant's dad, herringbone quilt from my mom, etc). Rowan is a very lucky and loved little boy!

I love it! What an awesome room! I love the color palette, and all the personal touches. The fish rug is so fun and all your artwork turned out great! Where is your comfy rocker from?
ReplyDeleteMy glider is from crate and barrel, I love it! The price put me off a little in the beginning but when I found one at the outlet for 40% off I couldn't resist buying it :) it's been really nice to have!
