We've known that the mountain behind our house had some good hiking and biking trails since before we moved in, but we just hadn't gotten around to exploring them, until recently. Grant gets off at 3 two days a week, so we decided to head up when he got home one afternoon. We wanted to watch the sunrise from the top (because we had heard you could see the ocean, and I'm a total sucker for an ocean sunset), but didn't want to be out too late since there are rattlesnakes and coyotes (which we often hear after dark). The trail was fairly empty, we saw only a couple of bikes and we made it to the top in no time (took maybe 25 mins). Rowan walked the entire way and did great (he sometimes struggles and says "my legs aren't working" so we were proud of him) and Boden rode on Grant's shoulders which was perfect.
When we got to the top, we found this random cement slab with paintings all over it. The kids were pretty entertained by that and threw rocks off it into the bushes.
Sunset family photo courtesy of a mountain biker. The sunset and ocean are to our front, the mountains behind us are the ones we have a view of from our front yard. I complain about all the hills here because it makes running really hard, but I can't complain about the views they provide!
Family selfie. I love these guys so much and the adventures we embark on. Grateful to be surrounded by these awesomely fun boys who make me better!
