We love the USO here. They have tons of events for kids, free dinners a few times a month and snacks and drinks and a park free all the time! It works out great because we will often drive down and meet Grant there when he gets off work.
They had a dinner and Santa event the week after Thanksgiving and we decided that would be a great way to kick off the Christmas season! Rowan and Boden are at such fun ages for Christmas and Rowan had a letter written to give to Santa and all week Boden kept saying, "Is Santa going to be at the USO?!"
They had a great dinner (free dinner that I don't have to make or clean up is always a plus) and then crafts for the kids and then Santa made an appearance and gave out candy. It was a great night. It
Santa! This picture warms my heart. I love his genuine excitement to give Santa his letter. He was very particular about it. He wrote out exactly what he wanted to say and then enclosed a small note that just said "nerf gun." Santa was very kind and opened it and talked to him about it for a minute. SO CUTE!
Although Boden was SO excited about Santa being there, he ended up being too scared to actually sit on his lap. I finally convinced him that it would be ok for me to hold him next to Santa and I think he may have told him that he wanted a bike :) He was scared and also we had gone to the doc that morning with a bad cold and he was diagnosed with an ear infection, so that probably didn't help.
Anyways, Dylan got his first picture with Santa, Rowan was over the moon, and Boden actually got in a pic, so all in all it was a win!
