When I told the kids we were moving to Maryland, the two things that got them excited rather than just sad about leaving the beach were that Mike and Alexa live here and that it SNOWS! They were literally talking about the fact that it snows here on our drive across the country and have asked multiple times when it is going to snow. I always knew it could happen anytime, but this little storm actually caught me a little off guard but in a good way! This was the perfect storm :) Light fluffy snowflakes, several inches to play in, but stayed warm enough to keep the roads clear. As I sat inside looking at our Christmas decorations, I realized how much more Christmasy they look :)
Rowan couldn't wait for the rest of us to get ready, so I let him run out and I watched him for a bit from the window :) Once I got everyone else dressed we ventured out into the snow! It was obviously Dylan's first snow experience, and Rowan and Boden's second time (the first being our trip to Sapporo 2 years ago-when Boden wasn't much older than Dylan).
Rowan's snow outfit from Sapporo now fits Boden, and Boden's snow clothes fit Dylan, but I had ordered Rowan snow pants like 3 days before (not even knowing about the storm yet) but they hadn't arrived yet, so he had to wear pjs with jeans and sweat pants and rain boots with really thick socks. He was the coldest at the end of the day, but a neighbor brought over and gifted him a pair of hand me down snow boots which helped a ton!
Dylan loved the snow. He just laid there with his mouth open eating the snowflakes, it was adorable
Here is our cute little frosty. The snow was pretty dry so it was hard to pack for a snowman but we were determined and I think he's pretty cute.
Boden's favorite thing about the snow was definitely eating it. He was CONSTANTLY eating the snow.

We didn't have a sled yet, so we got out the boogie board and it worked decent with Grant pulling it. We'll need to invest in a sled for next time though! Our neighbor across the street brought over a sled and let the boys use it.
And finally, it wouldn't be a complete snow day without some Coke snow. It was the first thing Rowan asked for when he saw that it was snowing. I have memories of doing this at Tahoe when we would stay there for snow trips growing up and clearly it's a fan favorite of my kids too :)
I quite enjoy it as well.
I was excited that it was a Saturday too so Grant could be home to play. He studied all morning and then took the afternoon off to play in the snow with us! It was really fun to get to play in the snow at home...however, when I asked the kids if they prefer the snow or the beach (kind of expecting them to say snow since we had just had a good time in it), they still said the beach :) Yep, they're mine!
