The fruits of our labor :)

Here is our garden day 1, the day we planted it... a couple variety of tomatoes, some red, orange and yellow bell peppers, eggplant, sweet onions, green onions, chives, carrots, cucumber, squash, zucchini, cantelope and watermelon. It started out small, mostly seeds and has continued to grow thanks to the abundance of both rain and sun we've had in the last month. And here's what it looked like today. It is nowhere near where it will hopefully be later this summer but it is amazing to see how much it's grown already.

These zucchini were just little seeds and they grow so fast you can tell a difference everyday (my kind of plant-you can actually tell something is happening!)

The tomatoes have actually almost reached the top of the wire and are climbing up it nicely. We've had several flowers so far but no fruit yet.And this was the most exciting part of the day... a pepper! It's really little and hasn't turned orange yet but nonetheless, it looks like a pepper and I am very excited that all that weed pulling and watering is paying off. Can't wait to make fajitas with it :)

And finally the wheat grass... thanks for the tip on how to grow it Jenny! I just love how it looks so I thought I'd try it out... this is only a week after planting the seeds, pretty awesome......and the chipmunks love it too :)

  1. Oh my gosh, Taryn I'm soo excited about you having a blog! So when I first saw the picture with the chipmunk in the pot I thought it was one of those fake ones and I thought, "Interesting, it's so big for such a small pot. But maybe they like little garden statues." I laughed so hard when I read it was real. Your house looks so cute! Congrats on the move!!

  2. LOVE the wheatgrass and LOVE the garden. Also, great that you can eat your own tomatoes this summer without worrying about salmonella!
