The kitchen is done :)

Well the kitchen was the one room in the house we were actually pretty happy with. Of course there was wallpaper on the walls that had to come off but other than painting it was going to be a fairly tame project. Well, with the addition of the loft we then had to put a ceiling in the kitchen, install new lighting and a fan and we also added a butcher block "island". Here are the before pictures...
This is Grant installing the can lights in the new ceiling (the lighting in the kitchen now is awesome). It is so bright and much better than it ever was before. He is now also "master electrician" along with all the other skills we have acquired in the last month while working on this house.
Drywalling is one job that I never want...it's probably one of my least favorite parts of the remodel process. Getting the joints all flat, taping, mudding, etc. It's just not very fun. I was on texture duty and it actually turned out pretty good in the end. And the final product! It's kind of bright but we did it in just a small area so I love it! The rest of the house has very subdued colors so I wanted something bright and fun in the kitchen and I think it works well. If we get sick of it we can always change it since it's just a couple walls!

Now all I need are some groceries so I can use my kitchen :) I got a recipe for some Cafe Rio food (I'm sure it won't be anything near as good as the real thing but it's worth a shot). I'll let you all know if it's any good!

  3. Do you two ever sleep? I think you'll have that whole house re-modeled in the time it took Will & I to decide on paint colors for our condo. Good job, it looks great!

Maybe I'll get to see you when you & Danielle are visiting next month. Yay!
