This week's big project has been the hallway. We painted it just a neutral "Gobi desert" (the best tan ever if you're looking for a good one). We pulled up the old reddish laminate flooring, put down some new bamboo to match the living room and replaced all the dark wood slab doors with new white 6-panel ones. It's looking very nice!
Pulling up the old flooring (we did this a week or so ago so we've been living with the nasty subflooring for awhile now). The green is where it looks like there used to be linoleum there before.
We obviously already had door frames in place in the house so we bought doors and had to use a router to cut out where the hinges go, etc. That part wasn't bad but getting them to hang just right was a bit of a pain!
Me using a new tool (the router). It was pretty fun but made a huge mess. Good thing we did it outside!

Memories of the hours spent lying the living room floor haunted us. We kept the tradition of taking a break mid way through and going to Red Robin for a late dinner. I tried the new Jamaican Jerk chicken burger, I would definitely recommend it :)
We wrote a little note to whoever is the next person to take on a big project like us. Hopefully that bamboo will stay there for awhile because it is looking good but who knows! It will be a fun little piece of history for someone to see. We're thinking of leaving a picture of us under the floor in the loft.
And finally the project came to an end! (that's always my favorite part)
Even the inside of the closet is looking good.
And here it is...the new doors and the new floor!
If you live somewhere fun and would like to fly us out to lay your bamboo flooring we will bring the nail gun and chop saw and be on our way :)

hahaha! My parents went through like 10 paint colors before finally settling on "Gobi dessert"! Your house is looking AMAZING. If I ever need bamboo flooring I know just who to call. Love the note and picture idea-- one day your house will be on that HGTV show "If walls could talk" or whatever it's called!

Well hello there, thanks for the comment and we are expecting to arrive there on July 1st and are are hoping to met up with you guys. Looks like you know a thing or two about remodeling, I don't think we have that much to do to our home, but we will see! Keep in touch!
