Since becoming pregnant with Boden, I was trying to decide what I wanted to do with our room situation. I've liked having a guest room (and we have an extra queen bed which isn't going anywhere, but I decided it was crazy to have them share a room at this point if I didn't have to. I like the idea of them sharing, just not when they're this young. So, I decided to combine Boden's nursery with the guest room and just leave Rowan in the room he's in. While my mom was here, Boden was still in our room, and if we happen to have any more guests, we can always have them share during that time or be in our room again, etc.
I'm not 100% finished (but who knows when I will be), so thought I'd share it now :) I went with a sort of travel theme that I thought worked well since it's combined with the guest room.
The elephant I saw on Pottery Barn Kids forever ago and thought it was so cute. I kept putting off getting it and then when I decided to just do it, they were out. Luckily, they decided to restock it, but then found out they wouldn't ship here! So...luckily my mom is awesome and I had it sent there and she sent it to me. I love it, it was worth the hassle even though it took forever!
Couldn't decide if I wanted to make Rowan's bed into a toddler bed (we bought the siderail to do it) or just reuse it as a crib, and we decided we didn't really want to have another crib, so I guess it won't get used as a toddler bed until our last kid. Oh well, I still really like it! Rio the llama is the only one who really sleeps in here right now ;)
Boden Kai "blonde ocean"... seems pretty appropriate (at least it would be for Rowan, let's hope it is for Boden too, haha)
I made the top frame (I made one for a friend as a gift and decided it was so cute I wanted one too :) The bottom one is the fancy one from the hospital. It's sort of weird to look at because it mostly reminds me of work (except it's my kid).
Shisas!
This is our Thailand shadow box (since he went there in my belly :) The elephant bracelet is carved from real elephant tooth (they do this when they fall out) and the pics are ones that we took there.
The GPS coordinates are for the hospital where he was born
And this was the last piece to finally arrive, my canvases! I feel like I waited forever for them. They are 16x20" of pics we have taken on vacation in the last year. Thailand, Hawaii, and Kyoto. I think they turned out pretty nice and we can use them in any room in the future. It's fun to see pics we've taken on canvas and this big, makes them look pretty awesome!
I plan to add a paper plane mobile and a mirror to the wall next to the crib, but other than that, it's about complete! Glad I finally had an excuse to get that room decorated (sorry for all those who visited before now ;)...even though we'll only be here another year. However, if we're staying in the military I need to get used to this and decorating and making something feel like home is worth it no matter how short the time!
