Davis

Grant was chosen to participate in an exercise that took place out at 29 Palms for a couple of weeks. Instead of being home the entire time, we took advantage for the fact that my parents flew down for Thanksgiving and decided to drive up to Davis with them for a week to hang out. It had been over a year since I'd been home and we thought 2.5 weeks was a long time to be home without dad.
We had a great time hanging out with my parents and enjoying some sites in the area. They also had just remodeled their kitchen and I was so excited to see it! It looked gorgeous and was a fun new room to hang out in.
Here are a few highlights from the week:
Sacramento Zoo. It was practically empty, we had it almost to ourselves. It was the perfect size. Rowan's favorite was the snow leopard, and I would probably have to agree. It was pretty awesome.
We hit up the Jelly Belly factory again also. We did it a year ago and Rowan still talked about the robots there. They loved it again.
Perhaps their favorite thing of the week was right in their backyard...picking fruit off the trees and veggies from the garden. This is the activity Rowan associates most with my parents house, he absolutely loves going out with a bowl and picking things.

I enjoyed some runs that were flat and fast and then we had a cold morning at a fun park!
 Christmas decorating

We found a fun gym that was open for free play for a few dollars one morning. We had a great time and can't wait to go back.
Building towers and temples with papa
Saturday we went to the Farmers Market and got hot chocolate and sticky buns. It was chilly but not too cold, perfect fall morning.
And then we rode a double decker bus!!!
And then came home and ate our crazy colored farmers market carrots
Sunday we went to church. The kids went to nursery and did pretty well. Boden was a little sad but they said Rowan did a fantastic job helping to keep him happy. Not sure how things are going to go when Rowan goes to Sunbeams! I think they're both really going to miss each other.
And then we headed out to see Lauren and Peter and their farm! It was so fun to see their new property and the kids got to play around on the land, with the tractor and see some horses. Good times for sure!
I left Monday morning at 4:30 am to drive home because I was a little nervous about the drive alone, with no extra hands to help with the kids. However, it went better than I could have expected! They slept for the first 3 hours, then woke up, we stopped for breakfast about 45 mins later. And then we drove the rest of the way home with no other stops! It was awesome. They got a little restless but overall did great.
