Mike and Alexa!

What's the best way to follow up one awesome Oki friend visitor? Have more come visit! Saying goodbye to Alexa was something I dreaded for our entire last year in Okinawa. She was such an integral part of our lives and we hated to see her go. As the time approached, her flights kept getting messed up, so she didn't know when she'd actually be leaving, and little did we know, when we said bye at the airport as we headed to Bali, we were actually saying bye to her as part of our Okinawa lives :( She cried and Mike felt bad so vowed to help her come visit us ASAP, and Veterans day holiday weekend was the perfect excuse. It was way too short a trip, but we packed in a lot of fun. We hiked, went to the beach, ate lots of good food (including a free Veterans meal for our military boys), went to the zoo and Safari Park, walked around Balboa Park and did a lot of fun playing and hanging out. Pretty proud of how much we packed into 2 days! The kids LOVED having them here and it seemed like they started up right where they left off...remembered them completely (even Boden who wasn't even 1 yet last time we saw Alexa).
Here are some pics from our weekend adventures. It was fun to show them around San Diego (it was their first trip to California ever!) Yay. Alexa even liked it so much she thought they should move here for their next duty station, which is saying a lot from this snow loving east coast farm girl!

We feel so fortunate to have so many good friends. One thing the military has blessed us with is an abundance of amazing people in our lives.  Alexa was truly one of our greatest blessings in Okinawa. I can't even express enough gratitude for all she did for our family, in loving our kids while I worked, etc. Why didn't you try to get stationed in San Diego now?! It's so hard to move away, but we are so grateful for friends who still make an effort to come see us. We love you Mike and Alexa, come back soon!
