The night after Grant got home, we had tickets to the San Diego Symphony. It was military appreciation night, where donors purchase tickets to allow for military families to go to the symphony. We were looking forward to doing something a little bit different than our normal It was a great night!
We started the night out at Oscars Mexican Seafood downtown. We ordered shrimp and fish tacos galore. Rowan was in heaven.
We then headed to the Symphony Hall where we waited in line to see Santa while the Navy band played Christmas music in the lobby.
They did free professional pics with Santa which was awesome, but they were trying to move quickly so the kids didn't really get to "talk" to Santa. Rowan was very sad about this (it was the first time he's been excited to see Santa). Not knowing if we'd see another Santa this year, we went to the guy who was helping in line who was wearing a Hawaiian shirt and Santa hat, "Santa's brother". Rowan was completely satisfied by this, it was cute.
We then went through where they took our tickets and they had activities set up for the kids, concessions, etc. It was pretty cute. We had about an hour to wait (it was good we got there early though because the concert hall totally filled up!)
They were a little crazy once we went to get seats before the show started, but overall they did pretty well and I had some candy bribery :)
The show was awesome. I was pleasantly surprised that people sang for every song. We had a 2-time Tony award winning guy who did a majority of the talking and signing (can't remember his name), but he was fantastic. Our favorite was the grinch :) And for the last number, they played a medley of a bunch of Christmas songs and had a sing along.
By this time it was pretty late and the crazy one passed out!
We hope to be able to go again next year. It was a great night out as a family, especially since Grant was finally back home with us!
