Happy Thanksgiving

We were looking forward to our first Thanksgiving in the United States in several years. The food would be much easier to get, we had family to spend it with, and it's a meal that we always enjoy. I really can't complain though, the last few years we had amazing friends to spend this holiday with. This year, Grant was on call over the holiday weekend, so we had to stay home, so we decided to host (and my parents were remodeling their kitchen and didn't know if it would be done in time anyways).
We were lucky enough to be able to have my parents and Karleigh and Brandon come visit for the long weekend.
Earlier in the week, the kids and I made these turkey hats. It's fun that they're old enough to do some little crafts with now. It's still usually chaos, but they appreciate it and have fun to some degree and it makes me feel like I'm helping teach them, etc. so I try :) For FHE we had Rowan add things that he was thankful for to his feathers. He said, "Boden, toys, clean laundry :), bed and cars". I love this kind of insight into his little brain.
I tried to do as much cooking before everyone arrived as I could because I love minimizing the mess on the actual day so we can focus on enjoying the food and company, and not feel like we have to spend all day cleaning up. We had a great day hanging out all together! Rowan helped with the rolls :) I should just let him use a pizza cutter all day long and he'd stay occupied. He cut a ton of little pieces and handed out "samples" and then rolled them all up in some parchment and made "sushi". He's cute :) I took command of the meal and the kitchen but tried to let others help out (which I'm not great at doing). Special thanks to both my parents and Karleigh for helping contribute and for everyone helping with the kids which allowed me some time in the kitchen!
Karleigh and Rowan did some good coloring while we waited for the food to finish
It was kind of my dream come true to be able to host Thanksgiving in our backyard. I love outdoor meals and what could be better than a delicious meal in a beautiful yard with great weather in November! Love it.

Wish I'd gotten a picture with everyone, but here are a few. Grateful to have spend this holiday of gratitude with so many people I love.

Happy Thanksgiving!
