Winter break

We decided to stay home for the break. Just having Grant home and not studying or at work constantly was vacation enough for us. I am anxiously awaiting being back to "normal" work life and doing some traveling, but for now, we are enjoying these days together. The day after Christmas the boys and Grant decided to have a sleepover in the basement. They have been talking about it for months and this was the first time it actually made sense to do it.
They put on their new headlamps, started reading the BFG and had a fun evening in the basement before going to bed. Boden ended up coming up and sleeping in his own bed but Rowan and Grant slept the night in the teepee.
We tried to just do a fun little outing or 2 a day. We spent a couple of mornings at the gym (killing Grant in some classes) and then would go out afterwards. We checked out the Dutch Amish market in Germantown for some treats one day.
We played with new Christmas games and toys. I feel like we did a good job buying for Christmas this year. We didn't get too much as they were able to play with and enjoy everything without getting overwhelmed.
One day we checked out the Indoor pool in Germantown which was awesome. The water was warm and there were a bunch of small slides for the kids.
Another day we went bowling... (Blake and Amy joined us for this fun adventure)
And of course we did some good eating. Grant and I had an at home date night where we watched Crazy Rich Asians which made me really crave good asian food. So we went to the best place we know here, Shanghai Taste, which definitely hit the spot. And when you eat at Shanghai, you have to hit up Carmen's next door for dessert :)
It was a really fun break and hard to go back to reality, but grateful for the time we had together!
