We don't love living in the cold, but having some snow days at our house has definitely been really fun. Last week we got more snow than we've had since we lived here. In about a day's time, we got 12 inches of fluffy white powder! It was enough to cancel church on Sunday and even cancel school and work on Monday for Rowan and Grant! Which meant lots of fun times for us in the snow!
View from our kitchen on Sunday morning when we woke up
We went out and played Sunday morning in the fresh snow. It was still cloudy and ugly that morning, but there was a good bit of snow to play in still. It snowed for awhile that morning while we were out in it but then stopped for most of the day. We went to some friends for dinner from 4-7 pm. When we got there the roads were clear and it was not snowing. When we went out to our car at 7, it had snowed at least a couple more inches and the roads were crazy. We drifted the whole way home.
And then of course, we had to finish the play session with some Coke and Fresca snow.
Monday morning we woke up to several more inches and it was gorgeous because the sun was out. The kids rushed out while we watched from the window for a bit and then we all headed out to join them.

Shoveling is my workout on snow days. I actually kind of enjoy it. It's a satisfying chore and a decent workout sometimes...and gives me something to do besides stand and be cold.

Pile of boys!
Blake and Amy came over to play in the snow for awhile on Monday, since they had the day off
Last year we never got more than a couple inches, which was still great
and melted pretty much by the next day, but this has stuck around for a
week because there was so much. I don't need that much because I don't
like when it just sits and gets dirty, but it's been kind of fun for the
kids to walk home in it. We have been taking Rowan's boots with us when we pick him up so they can trudge through the snow on their way home.
And Tuesday and Wednesday we played in the snow after school as well.
Dylan had fun sledding with Rowan. Rowan did a great job making sure he didn't faceplant into the snow even when they fell off the board at the bottom.
We got a lot of snow days out of this storm. I'm hoping for one more good snow this season and then we are ready for spring!!! This week has been bitterly cold and even the kids are talking about how excited they are for San Diego :)
