Oceanside fun

Even though we are about 35 minutes from Oceanside now, we have already spent several days up there.  We love the people who have been part of our lives since our Pendleton days, and we are familiar with the beach and the area up there. We know there's a lot to explore in the rest of San Diego county, but it's been nice to have some familiarity. It is amazing what driving down the Strand in Oceanside with the windows down will do for that feeling of deja vu. Things have changed a little since then though...I'm now driving a minivan instead of my convertible Volvo, I have 2 kids in the back, and hopefully I have grown a lot as a person in the last 3 years as well. However, I still love that salty ocean smell and the feel of the cool breeze...and of course, the view!

We are so happy to be living close to the Phillips' again...Rowan and Riley were friends from before they were born, so we are determined to make sure they are friends now ;) They weren't too interested in playing together the first time or 2 we hung out, but now they have so much fun together and it is adorable to see them interact and play, I love it. We share a love for the beach so have spent a lot of time there together!
We went to In N Out for dinner after the beach one night and the kids stood by the drive thru waving to everyone who drove by. It was so cute. It was funny to see the reaction of different people. Some were not really amused at all, others thought it was totally adorable.
We were fortunate enough to overlap a couple of weeks of our Strand friends (neighbors) before they moved back to Arizona for the rest of the year. They invited us up for a dinner party one night and it did not disappoint. Something we learned living there was that sunset is more than something that just happens every night. When you live at the beach, sunset is an event, and they know how to do it right. We had an amazing meal out on the deck and it brought back so many good memories of hanging out there all the time.
They always make my diet Coke fancier than I ever would...check out the baseball sized ice cube.
We had to introduce a kids table this time. They loved all the toys they had stashed away too.  The sunset I've hundreds of times but still have to take a picture every time :)

Rowan a little bigger than he was last time we lived here...
Excited to make more memories here and grateful for all the amazing times we've had here thus far. Yay for being back in San Diego!
