Oahu day 2

Day 2 began with a run along the north shore. We headed north the first day by Sunset Beach and beyond...it was so beautiful. Our run was followed by breakfast on the lanai watching the waves and surfers (a daily occurrence).
During breakfast we spotted several anole lizards basking in the sun...so Grant grabbed his camera and got some cool shots of this guy trying to impress the ladies with his crazy red throat (pictures of lizards was also a daily occurrence :)
Everyone was excited to see turtles, so this day we went in search of some sea turtles to swim with...and luckily we knew just the place to find them!
We drove by kind of early so it wasn't warm enough for many turtles to be out, so we went to another highly anticipated stop before coming back to the beach....MATSUMOTOS! I swear I would fly to Hawaii just for the shaved ice, it really is like no other. I want to get one of their ice shavers to have at home...however, I'm sure I couldn't totally duplicate their homemade flavors.
So many to choose from, but this day we got: Taryn (pineapple, strawberry, coconut) and Grant (melona, mango, lemon). Amazing.
After this delicious snack, we walked around a surf shop...
...and then headed back to turtle beach and had great success!
My sisters were a little disappointed that it is illegal to touch the turtles (because they are protected), so Karleigh was excited when a turtle decided it wanted to be friends with her ;)
Best pre Hawaii purchase, my Aquasocks for $6. I had some as a kid and then thought they were so "dorky" but they have proven to be perfect for all our adventures here. I might need another pair :)

Another good purchase was our snorkel gear. Grant could snorkel for hours everyday just looking for shells and checking out fish.

We were glad to be able to provide snorkel gear for everyone else to enjoy also...fun to see my parents enjoy some time in the water (must have been a good spot...not sure why there are so many people around!)
After a fun day at the beach we headed home, by way of the fruit stand, to enjoy yet another part of the Hawaii that we love.
