Sunday was our first full day in Maui. We woke and up headed to church in the morning...which is right across the street from the beach and had a beautiful view. When we walked in I recognized a man on a row a few in front of us. I sat down and said to Grant, "Is that RJ?" RJ is what we call our orthopedic surgeon (his initials that he so kindly marked each of our knees with prior to surgery). He also has a twin brother (who still look identical) who also works in his office, so we were unsure which of them it was. After Sacrament Meeting, we went up to say hi, realized it was Robert, not Richard, but it was still fun to see a familiar face in Maui!
The first one was a pretty little bay with lots of cool rocks where the waves broke, creating a really fun sound as the water passed over them. Grant got an awesome shot of the water on the rocks!
Karleigh found a coconut on the beach that we was determined to crack open. It was a little harder than the Samoan guy at the PCC made it look, but she was determined. Eventually she found a guy across the street to crack it open for her and we ate the fruit on our last night in Hawaii! Here she is just carrying her little friend around :)
The second place we stopped was a hike through a little forest that ended at a really fun snorkeling spot :)
We enjoyed the short little hike through the "jungle." There were tons of mango and papaya trees (unfortunately this also meant fermenting/rotting mangos all over the ground that stunk), banana trees, bamboo, crazy grasses, etc.
Karleigh and I hiding in the banana leaves.
We took this day to recover from the sun of the previous week and plan out our adventures for this new island we had just arrived on!

Another beautiful day in paradise! Love the pics!
ReplyDeleteThe coconut story cracked me up! Love the pic of the water coming up over the rocks.
