Christmas Eve

This year I was scheduled to work on Christmas Eve. It was sort of a bummer, but knowing that I had the next several days off after that made it ok. We decided that we would push everything back a day so I could be home for Christmas Eve with the kids, etc. However, when I arrived at work that morning, we were unusually slow, so they made plans to send me home at 3 and it worked out! It was a perfect day. My boys came to visit for an early lunch, then I delivered our only Christmas Eve baby, and I was home before 4 for a evening with the kids before the festivities the next day!
Besides being away from home, holidays are actually kind of fun days to work :)
There was a party that evening for the Young Single Adults at church, but it started (and ended) a bit late for us to want to take the kids, so Grant ended up just driving everyone there and arranging rides home for them. We missed him being gone for awhile, but we put out cookies for Santa, watched the grinch and he was home before Rowan went to bed so it all worked out.
Rowan decided to make sure the cookies were good enough for Santa (side note...the other half of Santa ate all the cookies before I got any!)
Being a parent on Christmas is a lot of fun! I also have a greater appreciation for all the work my parents put into it, because I didn't even come close to putting in the effort that my parents did growing up. Only two of my packages had bows and there were no tags (just pen written on the back, which made for seeing who they were for a little bit tricky;)
Santa remembered Rowan's "trash truck"! I was actually pretty proud of myself for having everything here on time given that it takes a bit of planning living overseas and having to deal with slow holiday mail, etc.
It was a pretty fun spread :) Grant and my stocking were on the couch. It is our tradition to sit back to back while we fill each other's stockings and then head up to bed afterwards :)
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
