Each morning we had breakfast outside our hotel in the gorgeous weather. There was a delicious bakery downstairs in our hotel, so we got an assortment of doughnuts, breakfast burritos and sandwiches. Unfortunately, I woke up feeling really nauseous this morning and didn't feel like eating. Boden had thrown up the two nights before this, so I think I might have gotten whatever bug he was getting over. I didn't feel terrible though, so we still went out and had fun, but took it a little easy. Luckily I seemed to feel better, not worse, as the day went on.
We headed to the river in the late morning, and hung out there for awhile, while we waited for our boat cruise. We thought a cruise would be a fun way to see the skyline without having to do a lot of walking. It was beautiful, relaxing, and an enjoyable way to spend our day.
The park by the river was really nice and fun, and there were tons of families out there with tents eating picnics.
On the boat. It was decorated with fake flowers and trees in true Asian fashion...but it really did look nice.
Sitting in the sun trying to bake the sickness out of myself. I feel like I really don't get sick often, but I was unlucky for both our last 2 vacations!
After our stroll back through the park after our cruise, we were planning to catch a cab back to the hotel to take naps...Well, apparently Rowan couldn't wait that long and just flopped over on Grant's shoulders. Oh to be a kid on vacation, that's the good life.
Before even arriving in Seoul, we knew we wanted to eat at a place called Vatos Tacos. It was supposed to be a Korean, So Cal, Mexican mix of food and vibe, and it did not disappoint. We went the night before, but there was a 2 hour wait, so we decided to make a reservation for the next day, which worked out much better!
These chips are as big as my head!
I'm pretty sure Rowan didn't really eat anything at all, he just sat playing with the exposed brick behind his chair. He had a chunk of concrete and was totally content to just bang it against the wall. It provided us with one less kid to entertain so I was good with it ;)
The kimchi fries were awesome and gave a little bit of the Korean flavor in a non traditional way. The tacos were also amazing...I wish we could have tried all of them.
Finally, our last day there, our flight didn't leave until around 4, so we had the entire morning to hang out. I sort of hate late flights because I always feel like it's actually hard to make use of your day when you are anticipating having to leave, but the hotel held onto our bags and the Korean War Memorial was right across the street. We thought it would be the perfect way to spend our Memorial Day morning. The museum itself was closed because it was a Monday, but they have a ton to see outside which was open for us to walk around at our leisure. Rowan loved it!
This statue really hit home. It shows Koreans and American soldiers fighting together, but also children being held and a woman at the back trying to pull them home.
I learned a little bit more about the Korean War (I really didn't know much at all) and Rowan got to see a lot of "mighty machines" which always makes him happy.
Afterwards, we grabbed lunch and headed to the airport. Our flight out of there was much better (only delayed 30 minutes and we were in a really nice terminal).
Seoul is a huge city and it felt relatively clean and nice. I could definitely go back and have a great time again, we just scratched the surface of what there is to see there, but it was a perfect overview and we had so much fun together!

I'm so happy you got to Korea!! Looks like you all had amazing weather, too!! What an adventure!!
