Monkey forest and rainy rice terraces

We decided to start our first full day in Ubud at the Monkey Forest. I was slightly nervous with the kids because I'd heard they could be a little crazy, but I knew if I kept them close and without food we'd be fine. The park itself was beautiful and fun to walk around.
There are several different kinds of monkeys who live in the park and we were lucky enough to get to see lots of babies! They were adorable :) They would ride around just holding on to their moms. I felt like a little monkey mom with Boden in the ergo walking around the park :)
Rowan was waving to them and was a little upset that they wouldn't wave back
Rowan's excitement about the monkeys ended here...while they didn't really get on him, they got much too close for comfort...he called these the "little monkeys" and he did NOT like them. He likes "big monkeys, mommy monkeys and baby monkeys but not little monkeys"
We made Holly carry our backpack and there were some pretzels that slid down on the side pockets...so she got a little monkey surprise!
The boys exploring the bridges
Grant was more excited to see this snake than all the monkeys :)
This is how Rowan rode around the second half of the morning...as far away from the monkeys as he could get and holding on for dear life :)
We then got some lunch and headed back to the house for nap time (a luxury we don't usually take on vacation but decided it was worth it and we didn't have a crazy agenda). After naps, we wanted to trek through the rice terraces and get some dinner. We left from the house and the weather was nice, as soon as we pulled up to the terraces (only like 20 mins away) it started POURING! So...we decided to just grab some dinner and save the hiking for another day. We didn't want to be wet and muddy, etc. It was the perfect decision. We found a cafe with good food and this amazing view.
And...we were celebrating our 12 year anniversary!!!
Rowan was acting up a little bit (and clearly looks miserable in this picture). I didn't realize he felt so bad, but on the way home he threw up ALL over Grant.
This was the beginning of some serious Bali belly. He had a high fever that night (luckily I brought Tylenol-but no thermometer) and diarrhea. The diarrhea continued for several days and I was so proud of him for doing so well having only been potty trained for a couple of months. I brought 4 Pull Ups with me and we used a couple of them just in case but he only had 2 tiny accidents the entire time. I then caught this terrible "disease" a day later. it was miserable but we managed to still have SO much fun.
Tropical rainstorm!
And when we got back to the house, we stuck the kids in the bath and got them ready for bed. Rowan is looking pretty cute for being so sick. Sick kids are SO sad but so snuggley and cute.
